Idm Was Registered with a fake Serial Number. IDM which is known as Internet Download Manager, is widely popular Download Manager software for Windows users. Most of every people who use Windows OS are very much familiar to this software to download things from the web.

IDM gives you super faster downloading speed with a list of additional features to manage different types of files and other things.


I tried re-patching, reinstalling, but this annoying message was persistent. It was so annoying that it keeps popping up until you exit IDM.

How to Fix “IDM has been registered with a fake serial number” Error in Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1

Step 1 :

You are requested to close down all the apps and folders which are being opened. Kindly close down everything first and then move to the next step.

Step 2 :

Now, go to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts from your Windows PC. It will show you all the hosting files stored on your PC.

Step 3 :

You would see a list of five different folders there. You are requested to right click on the hosts file and select Open with option. Make sure to select Notepad to open the select hosts files.

Step 4 :

Paste the following given code into the Notepad page. 

Save the page and you’re done!

2. Another Method 

The other way is the easiest way. After cracking and patching IDM, just go to the installation folder of IDM “C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Download Manager” and rename the “IDMGrHlp.exe” to anything you want or just delete it. Done!

But wait! Every time you run IDM, there would be a new popup box saying “IDM cannot find 1 files that are necessary for browser and system integration. Please reinstall IDM“.

To get rid of it, place anything in that folder “C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Download Manager“ and rename it “IDMGrHlp.exe“. I made a copy of the “idmBroker.exe” and renamed it to “IDMGrHlp.exe“.
